Our third virtual Meetup - Working Remote Tips during Times of Crisis with NEW WORK SE

This week, already our third virtual meetup took place. We talked about remote working or rather: Remote Management: Transitioning into online collaboration. Right from the start, it was nice to experience the sense of community, and we already started to chat while all the participants were joining. You could feel that this is missing at a time when we all sit in front of our computers, at home, and no small talk with colleagues is possible.

OUR FIRST VIRTUAL MEETUP - IDEAS FOR IMPROVING OUR EDUCATION SYSTEM

In times of “physical distancing” we organized the first virtual Women Techmakers Meetup. Admittedly, we were all a bit skeptical at the beginning. Which tool should we use? How do we create interaction? After we had clarified the technical details, we started the experiment. But the Corona crisis is not only changing the way we network, it is also turning school life upside down. Children and young people no longer learn in the classroom.

WOMAN IN TECH INTERVIEW: KATHARINA ABOUT THE MOVE FROM 'HOW TO MAKE A PRETTY PRESENTATION' TO 'I CAN CREATE A WORKING DIGITAL PRODUCT'

What should we know about you? On April 1, 2020 I will start my first job as a programmer, exactly one year after I was at a conference that turned my world upside down. This conference gave me the idea that I can become a woman in tech, too. I consider my own way into the world of IT to be extraordinary. And I had many prejudices myself. I never thought of myself as a nerd, nor did I think that I had the necessary skills.

WOMAN IN TECH INTERVIEW: KATJA – TRAINED LAWYER AND COMPUTER SCIENCE STUDENT

We get asked frequently why the proportion of women in computer science is so low. Anja has already developed her own hypotheses. You can read them in this blog post. But we also like to read the stories of the women in our community. Today we interviewed Katja, who after a successful first state examination in law does not continue her classical legal career but studies computer science. When did you first come into contact with computer science?

Expanding our mentoring programme beyond the coding classes

On 30.01, the moinworld community had an extraordinary moment during the New Year’s kick-off at Google: the launch of our new mentoring program. Interview with our founder Anja

What is the intention behind women techmakers hamburg? We want to change the IT world in a positive way by encouraging more women and girls to code and supporting them in their careers. Our future is digital and we think that women and men should have the same possibilities in shaping that future. Software changes every industry: agriculture, automobile, retail. It would be a great advantage, if a bigger part of the population could also read and write this code.
