Moinworld is a non-profit organization. The name moinworld is a hint to “Hello World”, the first words every program starts with.
Our goal
Our goal is to create a developer community where women and girls have the same opportunities as men to help shape the digital future. We hope that at some point 50% of software development and management positions in tech and IT will be filled by women. We achieve this by strengthening women: Through IT education and the support of a helpful network. To motivate and strengthen women, we also want to draw more attention to female role models. To achieve all this, moinworld offers you various platforms and forums:
Programmming Classes
At regular intervals, we offer programming courses for different programming languages or tools. The courses are aimed at all interested parties. There are beginner courses, which you can attend without any previous knowledge. We also offer regular advanced courses for those who are a bit fitter. In the courses, we want to show you the basics of programming, especially among other women who are also interested in coding. Besides the basic knowledge that you learn in the courses, they also serve to gain project experience and to network with like-minded people. Meetups, Lectures & Workshops & Networking Events
Lectures & Workshops & Networking Events
In addition to all the regular events, we also organize lectures, workshops or similar events on various topics for a wide variety of target groups. We want to enable you to network with the development community in your city, currently in Hamburg and Munich. In addition, we want to ensure that all our members are always up to date and always learn about new techniques, methods or tools at the very beginning. These events should, on the one hand, connect you with each other, but also offer you the opportunity to get to know companies and thus potential employers, or to draw their attention to you.
Meetups
Meetup is an online platform designed to connect like-minded people. Interested parties can use the platform to form and organize groups and organize meetings where ideas and information can be exchanged. Moinworld emerged from a Meetup Group called Women Techmakers and now regularly organizes the Women Techmakers Meetups. These usually take place at large tech companies and offer you the opportunity to exchange ideas and make new contacts. Most Meetups also invite experts on the respective Meetup topic to give presentations or panel discussions to tell us about their careers and experiences. The Meetups are always free and there to get in touch with the local developer scene, find out if you enjoy programming and get to know our moinworld team. On Meetup you can find us here in Hamburg and here in Munich.
Conferences
Once a year moinworld holds an international conference for the tech community. The speakers are international experts from the respective subject areas who deal with the conference topic in many different ways. The last conference on the subject of blockchain took place in March this year. The two-day event was a complete success read more about it here and do not forget to watch the conference video :).
Women in Tech - SHORT FILM SERIES ON YOUTUBE
Last autumn we launched a short film series portraying women working in the IT sector in Germany. In the short films, they tell us about their career and their experiences in the tech industry. Here you can browse a little and see the interesting stories. We hope to inspire and motivate other women with this series. If you know great women in your office who you would like to see in our Youtube series, you are welcome to contact us.
Blog
In our blog we keep you informed about what we are currently doing or which events we have participated in. We also regularly introduce you to female role models and want to tell you what’s on our minds right now. We are also always happy about guest contributions from the community.
School Project
Soon we will start a project at schools in Hamburg. First, there will be a workshop on the topic of unconscious biases, in which the children will be made aware of what they are indirectly taught about classical role stereotypes. Subsequently, programming courses are offered especially for girls. You will soon find more information about this great project here in our blog.

Moinworld also offers you the opportunity to become a member of the association. You will not only be a financial supporter and member of an innovative organization, but you will also be the first to be informed about events in your area, get discounted acess to our programming classes and free conference tickets (on availability).
