Meet our mentors - Antonela

“I believe it is the responsibility of all of us to create a world we would like to have for the next generations, so for me, moinworld mentorship was another step in doing my part of the job”

Who are you? What do we need to know about you?

I am Antonela, agile coach with the background as a psychologist. I am passionate about helping people to reach their goals, be it individuals, teams, or organizations.

Why did you join our program? What makes it special?

I joined the moinworld mentorship program because I want to support women and other underrepresented groups to become more present in the exciting field of STEM! I saw too many people being too modest about their achievement or insecure about their career choices because of their upbringing. I believe it is the responsibility of all of us to create a world we would like to have for the next generations, so for me, moinworld mentorship was another step in doing my part of the job. I especially liked the community aspect of it. The program is created together, and the relationship between mentors and mentees is on the eye level. I also liked that it is inclusive - although it is targeted at women, people of different gender are welcome to take part in it as well. And the third thing I would underline is that the program is very well structured, but also flexible - there is clear guidance and framing of 6 sessions, but also a lot of flexibility and space for adapting them to the specific situation. I already recommended the program to my colleagues, I cannot wait to see it scaling!

What do you love most about being a mentor?

If you are considering being a mentor, I can only encourage you to go forward. For me, the most beautiful part of being a mentor is being able to support another person through challenges that you might have had some years ago. On the other side, going through the sessions with my mentee was also inspiring me to take a look at some areas of my professional life where I could as well use some refreshment. Very often, just a little bit of water is enough for the flower to flourish!

What are the challenges of being a mentor

Of course, there are some challenges as well. For me, one of them was finding the extra time for it after my working hours and switching my mind from my job to the session. But after every session, I was sure that the time was very well invested.

What connects you two (mentor and mentee)?

My mentee and I connected on our passion for trying out new things and learning something new. And we also had a lot of laughs through our session! Would I do it all over again? Yes! Few hours on a monthly basis doesn’t make a big impact on my schedule, but it definitely makes a difference - both for me and for others
