Some impressions from our kick off in Hamburg last thursday at the Google Office
We met last Thursday to find out what happened to the Women Techmaker Meetup three years after it was founded. Meanwhile the Meetup has over 2600 members in Hamburg and we have founded a non-profit association called moinworld e.V. to get even more women excited about IT.
Since the association was founded two years ago, there have not only been the well-known Meetups, which usually take place every two weeks, but also programming courses in which you can learn to code in a structured way. Beyond that the association makes visible over its Youtube series #moinWiT female developers and women from the Tech range, organizes conferences and is active at schools, in order to advance the digital education of girls. There is also a second community of moinworld in Munich in the meantime.
An important part of this evening came from our sponsors and partners in Hamburg: Airbus, Lotto24, news aktuell, XING, Car2Go. They pointed out the exciting tasks and benefits that await future software developers.
As always, Google was our sensational host and welcomed us with a great buffet.
The Airbus team presented first and impressed with its three enthusiastic IT managers Lena, Luisa and Vanessa. In March we will have a first Meetup at Airbus and we are all very excited about it!
Petra von Strombeck from Lotto24 herself came to our Meetup to show how important it is for her as CEO that her engineering teams become more female and that more women take on leadership roles.
Matching the topic XING’s team reminded us that the next step in our career might be an email away, and that it’s worth considering roles that might initially seem outside our comfort zone as our next step to take.
Next, the news aktuell team gave us an insight into a software engineer’s day at their company.
Last on this evening our new partner Car2Go presents itself with Senior Software Quality Engineer Alina. At Car2Go not only exciting tasks await you, but also a great office directly on the Elbe, which we hope to experience this summer at the Roof Top Challenge at the latest.
Thanks to everyone who made this evening what it was.
Our next Meetup in Hamburg will take place at Lotto24 on February 18, 2019 and you can register here.
See you soon!
