The award honours initiatives that introduce information technology topics in schools, vocational training and universities. “The IT skills shortage is hampering innovation, digitisation and growth in the Hamburg metropolitan region,” says Raphael Vaino, explaining the background to the award, which is therefore looking for initiatives that promote sustained interest and competence among children, young people and young adults.
moinworld has taken 1st place at this year’s “ITEC Cares Award” of the IT-Executive Club of Hamburg@work. The prize, endowed with 3,000 euros, was ceremoniously awarded on 11 January 2019 as part of the IT Executive Club’s New Year’s reception.
The IT-Executive Club of Hamburg@work presented the “ITEC Cares Award” for the second time this year. The prize is awarded annually to three initiatives (places one to three) that have rendered outstanding services to the IT education of children, young people and young adults in the Hamburg metropolitan region. As part of the worldwide Google Women Techmaker Community, moinworld pursues the goal of enthusing more women for IT and the tech industry, making role models visible and thus breaking down unconscious prejudices. For this commitment, the non-profit organisation was awarded the first prize, endowed with 3,000 euros, at this year’s ITEC Cares Award. Second place with prize money of 2,000 euros went to Code Week Hamburg and third place to the Hackerschool, which received prize money of 1,000 euros.
We are very happy about the prize and thank the IT-Executive Club for supporting institutions like us with this prize. We have a lot ahead of us this year and will be able to use the 3,000 Euro prize money very well.
