About Torsten

Since 2018 Dr. Torsten Sevecke is the State Councillor in the ministry of Economy, Transport and Innovation and is responsible for innovation and economic development in Hamburg. He drives forward new ideas in the fields of digitalisation and new technology solutions to make Hamburg a more innovative city. Dr. Torsten Sevecke comes from a juridical background since he studied and awarded a doctor in law at the University of Hamburg. After graduating he stayed abroad for the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law in Vienna and for the UN Department of Peacekeeping Operations in New York. In 1996 he began his career in the Higher Administration Service at the Senate Chancellery of Hamburg and the District Authority Hamburg-Wandsbek. In the following years Dr. Sevecke amongst others was the Head of Planning staff in the Conference of Ministers for European Affairs, Project Advisor at the Ministry of Education and Sports as well as Coordinator at the Ministry for Urban Development and Environment in Hamburg.
